In the summer of 2009, Lara travelled to South Africa for a musical missions trip.  Along with nine other musicians, Lara helped a missionary make contacts in a new mission field in the Garden Route by performing classically based concerts.  During the trip, the group took a tour of the Township up on the hill.  What a different world! The tour guides, Penny and Ella made a deep impression.  These are women of God with passion, drive, and vision.  They already have a tour company to raise awareness about the Townships or "shanty towns."  They are beginning a soup kitchen out of Ella's home to neglected children in the Township and have the plans for a "safe house" where broken families and individuals can get a warm bed, good food, and a fresh start.
